ACS Newsletter May 18, 2025

Greetings, Coyote Families.

It is hard to believe that this is the last Newsletter for the 2024-2025 school year! This has been one for the books! I am grateful for the hard work that everyone has put in, from students to staff, and especially to the parents, for such a great transition. This summer, we will look hard at feedback and make next year even better! This newsletter will be shorter, but still contain important information. Have a Wonderful Summer!

FIELD DAY 2025!

Many have been asking about the details. With us growing, we have modified our Field Day. Special Thanks to the Specials and Electives Team for helping with the planning of the Elementary Field Day and the Middle School Kickback for the end of the year!

We do need a few more donations. Please sign up on this link to donate! FIELD DAY!

ACS SUMMER MEET AND GREET

We are growing, all the way to 8th grade. That means new staff, new students, and new families to make part of our community. As a result. We will host a Summer Meet & Greet on Sunday, June 22nd, from 2 -5 at the school. We will have bouncy houses, snow cones, ACS gear for sale, Music, and Food Trucks. Come out to get to know our new Coyotes!

DRESS CODE

With the weather warming up, we need to make sure students are still following dress code and are covered. This week, there were many short shorts, covered with oversized sweatshirts that drew questions, as well as crop tops, and shoulders out. Just a general rule of thumb, we need to make sure students are covered from neck to knees. See the attachment below as it relates to the dress code and other reminders. I know that this may seem like a change but please remember that ACS has grown to include Middle School students, so the expectations (Not just with dress code) will have to accommodate our new grades and ages. Thank you for your support as we make adjustments.

Reminders about dress code, attendance, and lunch :)

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

“Mental health is wealth, especially during Mental Health Awareness Month. The stigma around mental health and treatment has long existed, even though this has started to change. Still, people hesitate to seek help or even talk about it with their loved ones for fear of being judged and facing unnecessary backlash. Simple logic dictates that if we are hurt anywhere, we must seek treatment to get better. This applies to both our mental- and physical well-being.” -National Today

Please read the May is Mental Health Awareness Month document to learn ways that you & your family can take part in ending mental health bias and discrimination, and help build a healthy nation that celebrates children's strengths.

ACS SPORTS UPDATE

ACS Sports Participation Fee:

The school's finance associate may be sharing communication with individual families that need to close out their balance for sports participation fees. The fee is $25 per athletic season, not to exceed $75 for the year, given that the athlete participates in all three seasons. Fees will be assessed to the student/family account. Please close out this balance, so that athletes' 25-26 athletic campaigns are not impacted. Questions/Concerns email: dlong@alamancecommunityschool.net linnea@chartersuccesspartners.com

Rising 6th Graders:

All current 5th grade students that have interest in competing in sports for the 25-26 school year please make sure that you schedule a sports physical appointment with your primary care physician. These appointments can at times be scheduled out 1-3 months.

We want to ensure your students' first year of middle school athletic eligibility is not delayed due to not having a physical on file with the ACS Athletic Department. We are excited to have your student try out for our ACS Athletics teams 2025-26!

Thank you for supporting ACS Athletics!

The ACS Coyote Pack FB group is where you can ask questions, and our staff & involved families can answer questions and provide correct information. Families NEW to ACS are welcome to join as soon as they complete their registration in SchoolMint. Request to join today:

VOLUNTEERING

We have loved having so many volunteers in the classroom! Thank you for supporting our students and staff!

Volunteerism at our school is a way for you, parents and guardians, to learn more about ACS, engage positively with your child’s teachers, and witness firsthand the hard work and dedication that all our staff - teachers, assistants, support staff, and administrators demonstrate each day.

It is also a way to support your student and other students by assisting with workstations or a small group, helping with clerical tasks or lunch, and/or something as simple as reading a book to the class. You do not have to be an educator to volunteer, and everyone is welcome!  Please click on the ACS Volunteer Form Link below to find ways that you can volunteer to help support our school!  https://forms.gle/6iPiTAYNhm14BezV6
