Greetings Coyote Families!
I want to take a moment to thank you for the many ways you support our school community and for helping us start the year on such a strong note. At the same time, I need to address some important expectations and reminders so that we can continue moving forward with positivity, respect, and consistency.
Unfortunately, there have been recent instances of parents speaking inappropriately to staff members in the front office, sometimes in the presence of other parents and even students. This is not acceptable. We must maintain respect and decorum at all times. Please know that yelling or cursing at staff will result in a temporary ban from the building, and parents would then only be permitted to pick up their child through carline.
To keep our school running smoothly, I also want to review the following procedures:
Lunch Deliveries: Lunches should be dropped off before 12:00 PM. Please notify your child’s teacher so they are aware that lunch is on the cart. This is not a time to call students down or bypass our procedures. For questions about hot lunch or free lunch, please email frontdesk@alamancecommunityschool.net.
Morning Arrival & Tardies: If your child is tardy, please come into the front office to sign them in. To avoid the office line, we recommend arriving in carline before 8:10 AM, when it closes. As long as you are in line before 8:10, your child will not be marked tardy. Please note: for Middle School, the line closes promptly at 8:10 to ensure students are in class on time. arriving after that means you would need to cirle around to the front office and sign your child in. Because of safety measures, you cannot drop off after the staff is gone from duty.
Early Checkout: Early checkout should only be used for emergencies, appointments, or ACS sports. The 2:45 cutoff is firm. Using checkout to avoid carline disrupts staff responsibilities and actually delays carline for everyone. Continued misuse of this process will result in individual conversations with myself and Mrs. Gittens, our school social worker.
Carline Safety & Courtesy: Please remain in the lane in which you are scanned, even if another lane appears shorter. Students are called based on where you are scanned, and lane-switching slows the process. Afternoon pickup ends at 3:45 PM. Late pickups are becoming excessive, and some students are waiting daily beyond dismissal. Carline begins at 3:15 PM and moves swiftly, so please plan to arrive as close to this time as possible.
We started this school year with a strong, positive momentum. Let’s not move backward. Instead, let’s continue modeling kindness, consistency, and community for our students. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a respectful and positive environment at ACS.
COYOTE CAFE!
Stop by the Coyote Cafe this Thursday! Students may purchase flavored water, granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers and a variety of other healthy but delicious snacks for only $1 each. All proceeds go to providing weekend meals to our families in need. Please support our ACS Food Pantry by stopping by the elementary gym every Thursday during morning carline (7:45-8:15am).
Thank you!

VOLUNTEERING
We have loved having so many volunteers in the classroom! Thank you for supporting our students and staff!
Volunteerism at our school is a way for you, parents and guardians, to learn more about ACS, engage positively with your child’s teachers, and witness firsthand the hard work and dedication that all our staff - teachers, assistants, support staff, and administrators demonstrate each day.
It is also a way to support your student and other students by assisting with workstations or a small group, helping with clerical tasks or lunch, and/or something as simple as reading a book to the class. You do not have to be an educator to volunteer, and everyone is welcome! Please click on the ACS Volunteer Form Link below to find ways that you can volunteer to help support our school! https://forms.gle/6iPiTAYNhm14BezV6
