Greetings, Coyote Families.
We are in for another full week with sports, bookfair, fundraisers, and Pictures coming up! Here are just a few reminders:
Don't forget...we are officially in Fundraiser Season. There are several unknowns when it comes to local, state, and federal funding. Our goal with the fundraiser season is to make sure the students of ACS have everything they need to be successful and live up to the name…COMMUNITY! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
We are SO excited to host home games this year. The first one was such a huge success! Home games will be $5 entry per person, so save your cash 🙂. We will also have concessions at the games. Make sure you stay abreast of the calendar so you can show your support to our Coyotes! Let's work together to #DefendtheDen!
Do not arrive to line up before 2:45 (12:45 on Wednesdays). Thank you for working with the school and the Graham PD to keep the streets around our school as safe as possible.
While I don’t want to encourage the habit, there are times you will need to pick your Child(ren) up early from school. Unfortunately, the administration and front office staff have received less than gracious communication regarding our hard cutoff of 2:45 (12:45 on Wednesdays). This time is a non-negotiable. If you must pick up early, please come closer to 2:30 than 2:45. The answer for receiving students at 2:46 will be ‘No’. Our teachers will be completing lessons, and the rest of the staff will be transitioning to duty locations. we cannot slow down the dismissal process with over 800 students to dismiss. Thank you for understanding
Picture day is coming soon. Please make sure to use the code below!
Picture Day
his link will allow parents to sign up to receive email updates about their child's school portraits after picture day. These emails are sent to announce important things like when images are ready for viewing online, when novelty items are available for purchase and when new deals and promotions are being offered. When entering student information, parents should be sure to enter the student's name as it is on file at the school.

Coyotes of the Month
Our students are already doing some great things at ACS! See our FIRST Coyotes of the month for the 25-26 school year!

Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS)
ACS is happy to announce the district-wide launch of the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS). This program teaches students, teachers, and administrators how to recognize warning signals and threats, on social media, in school, or in their community, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others, and to Say Something to a trusted adult OR use its anonymous reporting system. ACS will train 5th-8th grade students beginning this week. Please click the following links for additional information regarding the program: Say Something Website & Say Something ARS - Program Overview for Parents or Caregivers
Protecting Our Students & Signs of Abuse
On September 1, 2021, Senate Bill 693 was signed into Session Law 2021-132, effective immediately. This Law requires all NC public schools to provide students in grades 6th to 12th with information and resources on child abuse and neglect, including sexual abuse.
Additionally, the Protecting Our Students Act (Session Law 2023-128/HB142) requires that all students in grades 6th to 12th view the Protecting Our Students film.
In order to be in compliance with these Laws, School Counselor, Scott Tribotte and School Social Worker, Cindy Gittens will address the following information during classroom guidance lessons with 6th through 8th grade students: warning signs indicating that a child may be a victim of abuse or neglect, including age-appropriate information on sexual abuse; the telephone number used for reporting abuse and neglect to the department of social services in Alamance County; a statement that information reported shall be held in the strictest confidence, to the extent permitted by law; available resources. All students will be sent home
with the following handout ( Final Signs of Abuse Student Handout.p)dfthat outlines
everything that was discussed during the classroom lesson. Additionally, your child will view the “Protecting Our Students” film that was developed by the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools in partnership with Capitol Broadcasting Company. This film aims to help students understand what inappropriate behavior by an adult is and what it might look like if it is happening to them or someone they know; know how to practice healthy behaviors and skills to stay safe; identify a responsible adult who they could ask for help.
ACS Student Support
We recognize that discussions of this nature could be potentially triggering or emotionally challenging for some students. Please know that the information will be delivered in a safe environment, and our school counselor and school social worker will be available to support students and address any concerns that may arise. If you have questions or concerns regarding any of these programs, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school social worker, Cindy Gittens (cgittens@alamancecommunityschool.net) and/or our school counselor, Scott Tribotte (stribotte@alamancecommunityschool.net).
