ACS Weekly Newsletter 10/01/23

MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR

Dear ACS Families and Staff,

Alamance Community School believes that parent and family involvement must be actively pursued and supported by all our staff, families, and members of our community by working together. The ACS Board and Administrators are committed to developing policies to involve parents in our school and their child’s education effectively, which includes following all State and federal guidelines, including N.C.G.S. § 115C-76.20(b)(3).

During the September Board meeting, the Board approved two policies, the ACS Parents Bill of Rights Compliance Policies and the ACS Non-Title IX Discrimination Policy & Complaint Process, that are now included in the 2023 - 2024 ACS Parent Student Handbook - Board Approved 6.22.23.

Whenever there are new policies or procedures, changes to existing policies and procedures, and/or changes in the handbook during the school year, we notify staff and families by email, in the weekly newsletters, in addition to posting the information on our website. This information will also be added to our website this week.

The Parents Bill of Rights Compliance Policies found on pages 70 - 81 in the Parent Student Handbook focuses on improving student achievement and that it must be the equally shared responsibility and goal of parents, teachers, staff, and the community. Also, there were some changes and improvements to the Non-Title IX Discrimination Policy & Complaint Process that you will find on pages 82 - 87 in the Parent Student Handbook.

All parents/families and educators must prioritize family involvement in education; thus, the Board is committed to providing support and coordination for school staff and parents to implement and sustain appropriate parent/family involvement.

Volunteerism at our school is a way for you, parents and guardians, to learn more about ACS, engage in a positive way with your child’s teachers, and witness firsthand the hard work and dedication that all our staff - teachers, assistants, support staff, and administrators demonstrate each and every day. It is also a way to support your student and other students by assisting with workstations or a small group, helping with clerical tasks or lunch, and/or something as simple as reading a book to the class. You do not have to be an educator to volunteer, and everyone is welcome! FALL APPAREL SALE!

Our annual ACS Fall Apparel Sale ends on Monday, October 9. Don’t miss out on purchasing your COYOTE t-shirts, hoodies, and polo shirts. They also make great gifts! You are going to love some of our new logos and choices! There is something for everyone!

There was a bit of a mix-up, and one of the logo choices wasn’t included on the first site, and because purchases had already been made, the vendor was unable to add the additional logo to the first online “store.” However, we have worked with the vendor, and they have created another link to a 2nd “Store” with the additional logo choice.

So, staff, students, & parents can now order apparel from our TWO online "stores.”

ACS Store #1 has the logo shown below for short-sleeved and long-sleeved t-shirts and hoodies, in addition to having polo/golf shirts for sale.

Here is the link to Store #1:

Store #2 has the logo shown below for short-sleeved and long-sleeved t-shirts & hoodies.

Here is the link to Store #2: shop: https://bsnteamsports.com/shop/ACSap2222

Again, be sure to do all your fall shopping BEFORE Monday, October 9.

Happy Shopping!!
