Monday, March 27, 2023 is the deadline to accept or decline offered lottery seats.
If you have not accepted the offer by Monday, March 27, you risk forfeiting your child's spot.

No appointment is needed. You may stop by the school within any of these timeframes with required paperwork to complete your child's registration for school. This is for registration only; there will not be an opportunity to tour the school during these times.

KINDERGARTEN ASSESSMENTS
We are excited to meet you and your rising Kindergartener! If you are enrolling a Kindergarten student, they will need to attend a Kindergarten Assessment.
Rising Kinders of current siblings must also attend Kindergarten Assessments.
Assessments will take approximately 20 minutes and will assess some very early Kindergarten skills, in addition to learning a little about your child’s personality.
This information will be very important when we create class lists and make teacher assignments in early August.
During the assessment, all caregivers will be asked to wait in the Caregiver Holding Room or in their cars.
Assessment Times are:
Wednesday, May 10 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM
Wednesday, May 17 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM
Thursday, June 1 from 9:00 - 12:00

SPRING INDIVIDUAL PICTURES MONDAY MARCH 27
Strawbridge Studios will be here on Monday, March 27 to take Spring Pictures.
These will be full body photos, so dress accordingly! Solid colors or small prints work best. Avoid clothing with large images or logos.
Do not send money prior to photos.
Packages/proofs will be sent home about 3 weeks later with information on how to order. See attached flyers.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION/SITE PLAN SPECIAL INFORMATION SESSION
Managing Director, Leslie Paynter, will hold an in person information session on Thursday, April 6 at 5:40 PM at our Coyote Connections Event. See the Coyote Connections Attachment for more details.
SPECIAL GUEST, CHRIS SINGLETON
On April 6, ACS is very excited and honored to host Chris Singleton! On this day, Chris will share his very powerful message of “Love is Stronger Than Hate." with our community.
Due to our very limited space and seating in the gym, you are invited to attend one of the morning sessions. You can attend with your child or the adult only at 11:00 AM. However, you MUST RSVP!!

You do not need to register or RSVP for your student(s). All of our students will attend the assembly with their class/grade level at one of the designated times listed below.

Following the loss of his mother in a racially motivated mass shooting, Chris has now become an inspirational speaker and best-selling author who has shared his message of unity and racial reconciliation with NFL and NBA teams as well as multiple Fortune 500 companies across the country.” He is also the author of several children’s books such as, Baseball Around the World, and Different: A Story About Loving Your Neighbor.
Chris shares his story with over 30,000 students annually and resides with his spouse, Mariana, and his sons, CJ and Caden, in Charleston, SC.

The morning sessions to hear Chris are:
9:00 - 9:30: Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
10:00 - 10:30: 3rd - 5th Grade
11:00 - 11:30: Adult Only Speech
If you are unable to attend, don’t worry - we plan to record his message and will share the link with our families.
COYOTE CONNECTIONS EVENT
On April 6, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, we are offering various informational sessions about a wide range of topics to provide information, support, and resources for our ACS current & new families.
Genesis Athletics, the Before & After School Care provider for ACS, will offer free childcare for children ages 6 months to 8 years of age during the Coyote Connections Event on Thursday, April 6th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Many thanks to Evelyn Kreiley, owner of Genesis Athletics, for her generosity!
Genesis Athletics is asking that families complete the interest form if they are planning on attending the Coyote Connections Event, so that they can accurately determine the number of staff to have on hand.
Completing the form ahead of time does not reserve a spot - it will be first come, first served, but completing the form will help them determine staffing.

The PTO will sell snacks in the gym, so there will also be an opportunity to do a little socializing!
Some of the informational sessions did not receive as much interest as others, therefore we combined some sessions. See the Coyote Connections Attachment for the list of sessions,descriptions, presenters, times, and locations of each session.
DONATIONS NEEDED FOR THE ACS FOOD PANTRY
Our ACS Food Pantry is starting to get a bit depleted. Each week ACS provides weekend meal bags, breakfast/snack items and toiletries/cleaning products to 10-20 of our families (depending on their request).
We would truly appreciate donations of simple boxed meals, canned goods, breakfast items, pasta, rice, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, cleaning wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and shampoo.
Items may be dropped off at the front office or students may bring them to the art room.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR NEWS
Alamance Community 4-H successfully hatched 18 chicks in our Embryology Programs. We are looking forward to seeing what we learn in Pollinators and Leadership. Programs are open to anyone ages 5-12.
Summer Camp Registration is now open. To learn more visit our site or attend the April 6th Sessions. We will host a Kindergarten Prep Program as well as co-host an outdoor learning program this year.
Please be on the lookout for our Spring Service Project- we will be looking for volunteers to help.
Registration for Before and After School Programs for the 2023-2024 school year will open in July.
PROTECT CHARTER SCHOOL FUNDING
Every year, Congress decides how much money should go towards new charter schools. Your voice matters most as they deliberate.
Since the pandemic began nearly three years ago, more than 240,000 new students enrolled in charter schools while 1.5 million students left their assigned public schools.
It’s important that families have more public education choices—not fewer. The Charter Schools Program is the only source of federal funding that helps new charter schools open and great charter schools grow and replicate.
We need your help in asking Congress to protect and grow this program, particularly to support the cost of charter school buildings. Families deserve the chance to choose the public education option best for their children, and all public school students deserve access to great school facilities.
