Cassie Kitts is excited to join the ACS family as a literacy specialist. She has a Master's in Elementary Education and has been teaching for 13 years. Her experience includes teaching in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade and serving as the Gifted and Talented Instructional Coach for her previous elementary school. Through her teaching career, she developed a love for teaching literacy and became passionate about helping students discover a love for reading. 

Cassie lives in Burlington, NC with her husband David, two sons, Easton and Keaton, and dog Pepe. Their family loves to travel, watch movies and have lots of fun. She is excited about this upcoming school year.

Evan Johnson is excited to be continuing teaching at Alamance Community School as an intervention specialist . Evan and her family moved from the Napa Valley to Mebane, NC in May 2020. She lives in Mebane with her husband, 2 kids, and 3 cats. Evan loves to go on adventures, hiking, reading, being in nature, cooking, sewing, and finding good restaurants.

Before teaching at ACS, Evan taught in California. She has taught a range of grades: kindergarten, second grade, fifth grade, technology, and reading intervention. She is excited to bring her knowledge and experience to ACS and work with students, teachers, and families.

Mrs. Snyder has lived in NC for the last year. She retired in 2021 after teaching Grade 6 and Title 1 Reading for a combined 24 ½ years in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York State. She holds a BS.Ed and a M.Ed in Literacy from Elmira College. Moving to NC after retirement to be closer to her grown children, she knew she was not ready to leave the classroom fully. She taught part-time Title 1 Reading in Durham during the 21-22 school year. 

 Mrs. Snyder has always created a warm and nurturing environment where children feel loved, heard, and respected. “Building a strong student rapport is critical for learning.” She looks forward to serving the students of Alamance Community School, helping them to become more confident and competent readers.

Mrs. Snyder lives in Mebane and enjoys cooking, going for long walks and short runs, reading, and following collegiate sports as well as the Boston Red Sox. She spends as much time as possible visiting her daughter’s family, including her 2 grandchildren who live in the area. She also has a son who lives in SC. that she also enjoys visiting.

Tayloir Ford is from Trinity, NC and is excited about joining the ACS family as a literacy specialist. She holds a teaching degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  She has 7 years of teaching experience through Durham Public Schools, teaching 2nd grade for three years and four years as a reading interventionist. Ms. Ford has always had a love for children. She looks forward to building relationships with students and parents, as she helps students reach their maximum potential, both personally and academically. 

Ms. Ford lives in Burlington with her one year old daughter, Raelyn. When she isn’t spending time with family and friends, she enjoys hiking, watching Netflix, and going to the beach. She is so excited to join Alamance Community, and can’t wait to meet all of the wonderful people involved!
