Raised in Burlington, North Carolina, Mary Kate graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in Sociology. After college, she spent two years working with the Alamance-Burlington School System as a teacher assistant and personal care aide. During that time, being surrounded by students and educators sparked her interest in pursuing a career in education. She went on to earn her teaching license through East Carolina University and has been teaching since 2019.

In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, being outdoors, and enjoying good food. Mary Kate is excited to return to ACS as a 3rd grade math and reading interventionist and is eager to help students grow, both academically and personally, each and every day.
