Mark Isley

PE Teacher (Part time)

Mark Isley is a proud Graduate of Southern Alamance High School ‘82 and The University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill ‘86. While at UNC, Mark was a manager on the UNC basketball team for the legendary Dean Smith. Upon graduation, Mark got is first teaching job at Richlands High School in 1986. After a 30 year career spanning 3 schools, Mark retired from ABSS in 2017, having spent 27 years at Southern Alamance Middle School, serving as head Football Coach, head Girls Basketball Coach and Athletic Director. Although retired, Mark stays involved in education, having served as a part time PE teacher at Northside Elementary School in Chapel Hill from 2021-23 and as a substitute teacher for various systems 2024-26.

Mark is married to Lynne Isley, also a retired teacher. Mark has one son, Coby, and two step children, Kaitlyn Davis and Bowman Davis. Mark also has 2 grandchildren, Salem Isley and Sebastian “Bash” Isley.

In addition to being a Tar Heels alum, Mark is an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins. Mark likes reading, listening to 70s/ 80s music and cooking. Mark loves trying new recipes!!!
