Laura Wells
8th Grade ELA
Laura was born and raised in Western New York, and moved to North Carolina August of 2005. She has a BA in English from State University of New York at Geneseo and a MA in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University.
Laura’s classroom experience spans from teaching grades 5-12, inclusion classes, honors classes, and AP Literature and Composition since 1999. Laura has experience as the lead teacher at private, charter, and public schools in North Carolina. She helps mentor new teachers as well as creates an environment for learning with her team.
Laura believes every child is able to learn as long as learning differences are met. She believes in collaboration and hands-on learning inside and outside of the classroom. In Laura’s classes, students will often be asked the questions of “Why?” or “How?” in order to create deeper thinking about the subject matter.
Outside of school, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, her children, granddaughter, and German Shepherd. She loves to travel and often brings in her travel experiences to her teaching. During her free time, Laura spends her time reading, quilting, painting, and crocheting.
