Darius Long
Athletic Director & MS PE
Darius Long is a native of Durham, N.C. and has been in education and athletics since 2010. Coach Long, as he is referred to by many, began his educational career with charter schools in the Durham Community. There he served in multiple capacities supporting the growth of students, athletes, and the school community. As Athletic Director he elevated the athletic programs. Teams would win 14 championships over a decade of interscholastic play. As Basketball & Track & Field Coach, he and his players won 6 championships during his tenure. He credits his passion for education and athletics to his parents, who were both educators, and his late father as a coach.
Coach Long has been a fixture in the charter/independent school athletics arena in NC for more than a decade. As a founding member of the Piedmont Independent Athletic Conference, He would serve as league liaison from 2011-2013 and conference commissioner from 2013-2019. There he would support one of the largest middle school conferences in North Carolina. He oversees athletic tournaments, invitationals, camps, and athletic training in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Coach Long is a proud graduate of North Carolina Central University with his bachelor's degree in Visual Communications. He also holds a master's degree in Sports Management & Graduate Certificate in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
Coach Long has a son named Alexander who wants to be an architect when he finishes school. He enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and spending time with his loved ones. He is excited to continue to support the growth of the Athletics Department, students, athletes and school community at Alamance Community School as Athletic Director & Middle School PE Teacher!
