Darius Long

P.E. Teacher and A.D.

Darius Long is a native of Durham, N.C. and has been in education/athletics for 13 years. Coach Long, as he is referred to by many, began his educational career at Maureen Joy Charter School in Durham, NC. There he served in many capacities as an Instructional Assistant, Student Services Coordinator, Athletic Director, Basketball & Track & Field Coach. Teams coached by Coach Long have won 6 championships. Coach Long credits his passion for education and athletics to his parents, who were both educators and his father a coach.

Coach Long has been a fixture in the charter/independent school athletics arena in NC for more than a decade. As a founding member of the Piedmont Independent Athletic Conference, He would serve as conference commissioner from 2013-2019. His work in athletics has helped him partner within several charter/independent schools in NC to build sustainable athletics programs.

Coach Long believes in helping students and athletes achieve their goals. Coach Long is a proud graduate of North Carolina Central University with a bachelor's in visual communications. His love for design helped him create a custom bowtie company in 2019. His love for athletics led him to pursue his master's degree in Sports Management & Athletic Administration at Southern New Hampshire University where he is an honors student and completing his graduate school studies. He desires to be a collegiate athletic administrator and coach one day!

Coach Long and his son Alexander love to watch Marvel movies! Coach Long loves traveling and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Coach Long is excited to join the pack as Alamance Community School's PE Teacher/Athletic Director!
