Darius Long

Athletic Director & MS PE

Darius Long is a native of Durham, N.C. and has been in education/athletics for 14 years. Coach Long, as he is referred to by many, began his educational career at Maureen Joy Charter School in Durham, NC. There he served in many capacities as an Instructional Assistant, Student Services Coordinator, Athletic Director, Basketball & Track & Field Coach. Teams coached by Coach Long have won 6 championships. Coach Long credits his passion for education and athletics to his parents, who were both educators and his father a coach.

Coach Long has been a fixture in the charter/independent school athletics arena in NC for more than a decade. As a founding member of the Piedmont Independent Athletic Conference, He would serve as conference commissioner from 2013-2019. Coach Long is a proud graduate of North Carolina Central University with his Bachelors of Arts in Visual Communications. Coach Long is pursuing a master's degree in Sports Management & Athletic Administration at Southern New Hampshire University where he is an honor student.

Coach Long and his son Alexander love to watch Marvel movies! Coach Long enjoys traveling and spending time with his fiancée, family, and friends. Coach Long is excited to help grow the Athletics Department at Alamance Community School as Athletic Director & Middle School PE Teacher!
