Cheryl Henderson

3rd Grade

Cheryl Henderson earned her BS in Psychology from Liberty University in 2012. Following graduation, she completed graduate coursework in both special education and elementary education from Western Carolina University, and began as a lateral entry special education teacher in the public school setting in 2013.

Mrs. Henderson has over 15 years of experience working with elementary age children since 2003, first as a teacher assistant and then as a teacher. Even though most of her years of experience has been in special education, working in the general education setting is not foreign to her. She has co-taught in general education classrooms for several years. It is her philosophy that children learn best in a positive, nurturing and collaborative environment. Mrs. Henderson believes it is just as important to celebrate the small successes as much as the big ones.

Cheryl Henderson has been married for over 30 years with a daughter Sarah, new son-in-law Wyatt, and son Joshua. She also has two fur babies of her own, Daisy and Echo, and often has play dates with her granddog Nova. Mrs. Henderson enjoys time with her family sitting out by the fire, making smores, having family game nights, exercising, and cooking.

Mrs. Henderson is excited to be a part of the third grade team at Alamance Community School, and she is looking forward to seeing her students continue to grow this year!
